If you’re not familiar with TED or www.ted.com, take a moment to get a sense for exactly what this innovative not-for-profit organization offers. Essentially, it is dedicated to spreading ideas and theories, interesting notions and thought-provoking debate to willing listeners the world over.
In a recent magazine article, it was likened to a 21st century Harvard University. It is truly groundbreaking in the way that it brings the greatest minds in the world together on a variety of subjects, sharing their postulations freely and openly.
At a TED conference a number of years ago, one particularly interesting presentation was given by Dr. Hans Rosling, a Swedish Doctor and Professor who has a knack for presenting statistical information and trends in a compelling manner that enables viewers to digest information that would otherwise be difficult to envision.
The video is a little lengthy, over 18 minutes, but even if you have just a few minutes to watch and get a sense for what he does and to dispell some preconceived notions which you may likely already have, you might also find this interesting.
