James Clarke directs Yellowstone Partner’s Private Equity & Alternatives Fund. Prior to joining Yellowstone, James founded CLEARLINK Corporation, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, working as CEO, then Chairman. After nearly 10 years in online retail, James’s stake of CLEARLINK was acquired in early 2011 by Pamlico Capital (formerly Wachovia) in a “nine-figure” enterprise value transaction. James has served on the boards and advisory roles at various publicly traded and private entities. As a board member, he helped to merge Montigen Pharmaceuticals with west coast biotech SuperGen (NSDQ: SUPG) and served as shareholder representative. He also served on the Board of Directors of Havens, Inc. (a private residence club) up until its acquisition in early 2007 by BelleHavens and then Abercrombie & Kent in 2008. He has served on the boards of 1-800-Pharmacy.com, HireVue.com and helped to seed Pinger.com prior to its being funded by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Within the Yellowstone Alternatives portfolio, James is an active participant in multiple private placements and secondary offerings of publicly traded and private companies. Additionally, Yellowstone has acquired significant ownership of ContourHD (along with Black Oak Capital), and True Science, where he serves as Chairman of the Board.
As part of his commitment to non-profit organizations and community affairs, until recently, James has served on the board of advisors for Kingsbury Hall and was elected to his second 3-year term as a Trustee on the Board of the Utah Symphony, The Utah Opera, and The Deer Valley Music Festival. He has also served on the Board of Advisors to the Young Benefactors Council of The Utah Museum of Fine Arts (UMFA). He has been a member of the Utah Technology Council, Young President’s Organization, and dedicates significant time to educational, church, and political service as a precinct chair. Currently, Mr and Mrs Clarke serve on Brigham Young University-Idaho’s Presidents Advancement Council.
Throughout his business career James has been honored as a vSpring 100 Entrepreneur, a MWCN “Utah 100” Honoree on multiple occasions, and has been placed on the cover of Utah Business Magazine as a top “40 Under 40” business leader. James has also been featured in the Wall Street Journal as well as other national and regional publications. CLEARLINK was honored in 2008 as Utah’s 4th fastest growing company and as a multi-year INC. 500 recipient as one of America’s 500 fastest growing companies.
James is a graduate of Brigham Young University-Idaho, Harvard Business School and is a Masters Degree candidate at Oxford University.
